Abstract

The study of land cover that form a region and evaluation of its dynamics, is an important issue to be prerequisite for the sustainable management of natural resources, environmental protection, and basic data monitoring and modeling (Lira 2002), specifically in the case of southwestern Colombia have prominence because it is a high mountain area with a large variability of vegetation cover and land use. Knowing the amount and distribution in spatial and temporal control is important for agriculture, deforestation, environmental degradation and climate change.
