Abstract
One of the contemporary themes that represents a challenge to the
true spirit of pluralism and freedom of religion and worship is the position of the Christian Churches in the face of interreligious dialogue. The contributions of the historical Churches —Catholic and Protestant— on
the necessary theological, historical, testimonial, social dialogue, etc., between Christianity and the various world religions, have been marked by
various successes and mistakes, evidenced in documents and statements of
the institutions of the oikoumene. However, one of the current theological
challenges comes mainly from Catholic authors, who challenge the Protestant, Anglican, Orthodox and Catholic theological work from the so-called Theology of Religious Pluralism, which starts from recognizing the
plural existence and mutual acceptance between religions. This theological
proposal asks not only about the possibility of elaborating a "Christian"
theology on religious pluralism, but it goes further by proposing to construct an "interreligious" theology open to all religions. This lecture seeks to
present some elements of the necessary overcoming of theological exclusivism and inclusivism towards a new pluralist paradigm in a dialogic key.
