Abstract
Peacebuilding scenarios in Colombia overlap with biodiverse, highly fragile, and threatened ecosystems. Consequently, the construction of territorial peace should align with discussions on environmental peacebuilding. Based on the case of the municipality of La Montañita, in the department of Caquetá, this study explores the meaning of environmental peacebuilding in peasant territories of the Amazon, the changes in natural resources governance, and the threats faced by communities. The findings suggest that for these communities, peace is not merely the absence of violence but also the capability to organize themselves, make decisions about their territories, and manage their future. Despite significant challenges, communities have reorganized around agreements and relationships to build both territorial and environmental peace.
