Abstract
In the light of a brief analysis of the knowledge produced on work identity within conventional psychology, this article discusses the displacements with respect to this psychology present in the studies included in the special section of this issue. The central argument contends that these studies avoid the restrictions imposed by the hegemonic orientations of psychology to find other ways of analyzing the construction of identity within the Latin American world of work. As a result, these studies give rise to a critical psychological knowledge which ispolitically relevant to the local world of work.
