Abstract
The following text aims to make a general review of the experience of time in light of the concept of “extinguishing phenomenon” (Abklangsphänomene) as it takes place in what we call awareness of oneself as another. We find this mode of alienated consciousness described particularly by Dostoevsky in The Brothers Karamazov under the figure of Ivan. In short, what we seek, from a phenomenological perspective, is to highlight the importance of philosophy for the human sciences, especially in the dialogue that regarding certain pathologies takes place with psychoanalysis and psychiatry and, why not, with therapeutics. of palliative medicine. We believe that a serious reflection, regarding an analysis of the consciousness of time, undeniably offers a starting point for understanding the enigma of subjectivity and its emotional discomforts.
