Abstract

Religious education has been present in the history of Colombia from the Spanish patronage to the present day under different denominations. However, in these times of plurality, secularization and secularism, there are different attitudes towards religion at school. We are sure about its necessity and importance; therefore, it is pertinent to think about a religious education more suitable for today. For this reason, this article delves into its nature, purpose and legitimacy in order to provide some clues to think other curricular contents and didactic modes that can contribute to a better religious phenomenon understanding and promote a growth of human religious dimension.
