Abstract
The Basic Principles for Effective Banking Supervision constitute the most important recommendations for prudential regulation and supervision. In this research, a diagnosis of supervision and regulatory entities in El Salvador and Honduras is established. The legal norms related to the Financial System and the different regulatory norms on supervision and control of banking activity were studied. Similarly, the application and degree of compliance with the Basic Principles were analyzed, with the aim of referencing the changes that have occurred in financial markets and supervision practices, in order to strengthen their proper functioning in the countries under study
