Abstract

The term "influencer" has gained relevance with the rise of social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, where individuals who manage to build virtual communities impact not only fashion and trends but also lifestyles, including the dietary choices of their followers. Although their influence can be positive, the lack ofnutritionaltraininginmanyoftheseinfluencersposesahighrisktopublichealth.By promoting dietswithoutsolidargumentsorscientificbasis,theymayharmpeople'shealth,exposingthem to eating disorders and mental health issues. Various studies reveal a link between social media use and eating disorders, particularly among young people. The regulation of such content is limited in many countries, like Colombia and Chile, highlighting the need for stricter policies that protect users and promote reliable, evidence-based nutritional information. This is a work carried out using the methodology of an academic essay supported by a literature review.
