Abstract
This article deals with different theoretical and methodological aspects aimed at achieving a “historization” of race. The authors try to go beyond the simple statement that race is a historical construction. Therefore, they suggest regarding race as a singular condition that allows multiple conceptualizations which reflect a particular moment in history. They also direct the reader’s attention towards the trend of equaling the term race and the concept of race. With this in mind, the writers suggest that “historization” of race also, and fundamentally, requires “historization” of our analytical categories. They apply the distinction between historical and social facts of race, finally warning against the mistake of necessarily considering as racial any hierarchization that resorts to aspects such as the color of the skin or the purity of the blood.
