N2 - Field tennis is a sport with high physical and mental demands; however, the training sessions have a high technical-tactical and physical preparation load, leaving psychological preparation on many occasions adrift and athletes must learn from their experiences to deal with the high emotional load that participation in different competitions entails. The objective of the study was to identify the basic psychological skills of a group of tennis players in training from the Valle del Cauca Field Tennis League (LVTC). The methodology was oriented from a mixed approach and followed the logic of descriptive-explanatory cross-sectional studies, which allowed identifying the development of basic psychological skills of 17 young elite category tennis players, who presented an average age of 14.4 ± 1 4 years, prior informed consent. The instruments used were nonparticipant observation, the semi-structured interview, and the Par P1-R test, managing to identify the psychological abilities of the tennis players in training. The information was processed through the SPSS version 25 and Atlas Ti version 19 software. The results showed that athletes have an excellent competitive challenge, while the other psychological abilities are in the category of abilities that need to be improved. In conclusion, the development of basic psychological skills is essential in sports training processes, where professional support is necessary in this field, to obtain comprehensive sports development and emotional skills to assume the rigor of competition.
