Abstract

Complicated urinary tract infection is the infection that occurs in any of the structures of the urinary tract, in patients with comorbidity, or those with structural or functional abnormalities of the urinary tract. Complicated urinary tract infection has a high impact on morbidity, mortality, and the current problem of antimicrobial resistance, and it is important to generate guidelines to guide the adequate diagnosis and treatment in this group of patients, with the aim of obtaining better clinical outcomes and promoting antimicrobial stewardship. This guide contains evidence-based recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of adult patients with complicated urinary tract infection, made through the process of adapting clinical practice guidelines for the Colombian context.
