Abstract
Cryptococcosis is the fungal infection caused by the species complex Cryptococcus neoformans and Cryptococcus gattii, most frequently developed in people with compromised immune systems. In people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), cryptococcosis is an opportunistic infection of great importance, with devastating consequences for patients, society and the health system, due to the increase in morbidity, mortality and costs it generates. This guide contains recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of cryptococcosis in adults living with HIV, based on evidence, made through the process of adapting international clinical practice guidelines for the Colombian context.
