Abstract
Foreign bodies in the ear, nose and respiratory tract are a frequent cause of consul-tation in emergency services and their assessment should be the responsibility of all otorhinolaryngologists. The most frequent symptoms after the introduction of a fore-ign body into the ear are otalgia, otorrhagia, otorrhea, aural fullness, itching, tinnitus and fever; at the nasal symptoms are: local pain, unilateral rhinorrhea, epistaxis and nasal obstruction. Aspiration of a foreign body in children is considered an emergen-cy condition, especially in young children, in whom higher mortality is described.
