Abstract

This chapter is conceived to help the reader understand and learn about the management of maxillary fractures. In this chapter we present, through the elaboration of questions on the subject and the presentation of a single clinical case, the classification of maxillary trauma or of the facial middle third, the diagnostic process, diagnostic imaging studies, surgical approaches according to the classification, with the respective osteosynthesis sites, when it is necessary to use bone grafts and what is the handling sequence. Finally, the most frequent complications and failures in the management of this type of trauma are presented, and some recommended readings are given.
