Abstract
We present the experience of a lecture for the promotion of research skills along with oral and written expression skills from an interdisciplinary work with engineering and medicine students, covering analysis of problems related to human motor disability. The course has the participation of teachers of different professions, such as biologist, engineers, medicine doctors, physiotherapists and sociologists. The course focuses on human motor disability, which is a complex problem that must be approached from a multidisciplinary perspective. This approach is considered valid for the generation of new lines of research in this area of disability as well as for the development of innovative products. The course gives a global vision of disability, physiology, neurophysiology, normativity, instrumentation, creativity-innovation and technological development in neurocontrolled prostheses, in modules offered by experts in each of the areas. The course promotes collaborative work between different professions and is evaluated through the review of scientific literature or the conceptual design of a product through a prototype. This course allows a collaboration of academic and scientific entities (national and international universities), and health institutions (Centro de Neurorehabilitación SURGIR). As outcomes of this experience, there have been found the following benefits: i. Generate new proposals for engineering degree work that address health problems, ii. Encouragement in critical reading, oral expression and written expression skills of students, iii. Develop prototypes to solve disability problems with a broader vision of the problem and iv. Contribute to the inter-institutional collaboration of academic entities and health service since it has also bee.
