Abstract

A team is defined as a set of people with skills that complement each other, common objectives and shared responsibilities. The participants work together to achieve this objective through information sharing and collaboration among them. However, work in teams is not easy, the dynamic relation between work context and personal characteristics can be very complex to manage and many problems appear during its execution that can compromise negatively the collaborative work. For that reason, it is essential to think how the teams' formation in collaborative context can be more effectives. Choosing properly the people who have the skills, knowledge and behaviors needed to collaborate and to jointly achieve the goal on a certain context can be an alternative. This paper presents MATEO (acronym of Making Adapted Teams Oriented to collaboration), a generic system that adapts the team formation process according to the team requirements, the work context and the characteristics of the participants.
