Abstract
New approaches to the assessment with a view to checking the standard of quality in higher education and information technologies and communication open up a broad discussion about the roads to be prosecuted where learning activities in IES. One of the most important points in this discussion are the laboratories where practices are developed they will face in the professional field and graduates somehow determine the competencies and skills that these drivers, hence the present investigation aims to contribute to the assessment the importance of traditional and virtual laboratories in teaching processes in IES; by a study conducted in the second half of 2008 at the Fundación Universitaria Panamericana to diagnose the state of its engineering labs.
