Abstract
This is a research about the mechatronic’s program supply in Bogotá and Colombia. It was developed in order to identify the professional and occupational profile, the fields of work and the competences of the professionals of the area, with the purpose of creating a program in mechatronics for the Fundación Universitaria Panamericana. An international review of the supply was made, particularly in the Latin-American context. The investigative model is a descriptive one, with a sample of 58 universities and includes the study of the products and services supply of specialized companies in mechatronics and related areas. The results expose the conception of the term mechatronics, the competences expected from the graduates, the jobs in which they could be employed and the impact fields in the economy.
