Abstract

Radiation enteritis is a pathology caused by radiation therapy, used to treat radiosensitive tumors. Acute or chronic eneritis may be suspected in the presence of symptoms such as malabsorption or intestinal obstruc-tion, which alter the patients quality of life. The following is the case report of a 67-year-old male patient, who consulted for symptoms of intestinal obstruction, with a history of diffuse type adenocarcinoma with infiltrating signet ring cells involving the entire thickness of the gastric wall. The patient underwent a total gastrectomy associated with chemoradiotherapy.
