Abstract
This paper explores the growing influence of personal narratives on dietary habits, particularly in contrast to scientific evidence. Personal stories, often derived from everyday experiences, resonate emotionally with audiences, making lifestyle changes appear more achievable and relatable. These narratives, especially when shared by influencers, can be highly motivational, creating a strong connection with followers. However, the reliance on subjective experiences over scientific recommendations poses risks, as it may promote unsafe dietary practices. With the rise of social media, a significant portion of the population—40-60%—is more inclined to follow advice from public figures rather than nutrition experts, contributing to misinformation and unhealthy choices. The essayhighlights the need for healthcare professionals to effectively promote evidence-based nutritional information while acknowledging the emotional appeal of personal stories. This balance is crucial to fostering safe, sustainable eating habits in an era of information overload
