Abstract
Teaching the History of philosophy in university philosophy programs is much more than just transmitting information about the past of an academic discipline. This article highlights the triple function of the “reference tradition”in the education of philosophy agents: historical, didactic, and methodological. The aim is to encourage the production of reflections on the place of local philosophical past and its possible concretizations as Histories of philosophy in Colombiaor its participation in histories of the reference tradition, even as inputs for courses that are not historical but problematic. Thus, throughout the document, there are indicationson how to enrich not only the Histories of philosophy but also other possible courses within professional philosophical education programs.
