El Desplazamiento Forzado, el Efecto no Deseado del Desarrollo Alternativo; el caso Tumaco Nariño – Colombia

This article applies the econometrics Difference in Differences (DID) method to measure the impact of Alternative Development (AD) on the number of forced displacements in the municipality of Tumaco (Colombia), during the period 1999–2016. Identifying an increase in the average number of people forcibly displaced annually in Tumaco of 541 people per-10,000 inhabitants, compared to the control group, which suggests that the DA had unintended effects on the population in which it was applied. Evidencing that, for the implementation of this type of programs, it is necessary to consider the agents involved, the economic environment and the social dynamics.
