Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present a reflection on the ethical component as a crosscutting element in research projects. In all stages of development of a research project; from requirements documentation, life cycle, selfregulation, monitoring of the phases of research, and evaluation of benefits, ethics must be present and it has to be exercised and cultivated by researchers, and maintained by all stakeholders. Ethics as a factor of project success goes beyond its products to be considered as an element of value creation. It is concluded that evaluation of research projects must incorporate ethics as key for the success in the search of generation of new knowledge and benefits as part of the commitment with science and technology and the progress of a country; guiding, as a result, the research to a sustainable development context.
