Abstract
This article presents an overview of studies that address the city and
architecture from a cinematographic image viewpoint. It characterizes the different approaches with which film has been used for research purposes and it contributes by providing a literature review of cinema as a source for research in the Colombian context. The article concludes by introducing research that fits into the previously mentioned theoretical landscape: the topic of this research, which uses a film by two cinematographers, is the city and architecture in Cali from 1971 to 1995.
