Abstract
In this paper, a reflection on the construction of musical identity in higher education is presented by questioning the concepts of identity and multiculturalism, and developing the idea of interculturalism as a vector of musical education. The discussion is framed in a contemporary global context with complex symbolic transactions and a regional context with accentuated asymmetries. It suggests an intercultural view of the content, curriculum structure, didactics, action research projects and it addresses the issue of musical informal learning.
