Abstract

This article contributes to transdisciplinary discussions about the political dimension of the social-ecological systems approach (SSE) within political ecology (PE). The article integrates the perspectives of socialecological systems (SSE), political ecology (PE), participatory action research (PAR), local ecological knowledge, and artistic creativity in order to pursue the following research horizons: 1) To develop critical theoretical positionings that include the understanding of power relations, situations of inequality, and social agency from diverse ontological positionings-the integration between SSE and PE: 2) To employ creative strategies to facilitate processes of co-creation, circulation, and appropriation of research results-the integration of creative skills and languages: and 3) To generate collective work processes that seek the establishment of more horizontal relationships with the objective of building common agendas with PAR. We base our work on research carried out with peasant organizations immersed in social-environmental conflicts in Colombia. Key Words: socio-ecological systems, participatory action research, transdisciplinary research, Colombia
