Abstract
This chapter describes the design and implementation of an air quality monitoring system at the University of San Buenaventura. The implemented system consists of four monitoring stations and a control station. Each monitoring station is composed of wireless sensors, communication modules and an embedded system, which allows to acquire information about environmental variables such as temperature, humidity and carbon monoxide. The data related to these variables are transmitted to the control station, which was implemented using the Raspberry Pi embedded system. The data acquired by the four monitoring stations are then stored in a database and visualized by means of a web application implemented in the Raspberry Pi system.
