Abstract
The European Union (EU) has been a strong defender of the peace process and agreement in Colombia. After long years of cooperation, it signed the free trade agreement with the An- dean country in 2012 and in December 2016 it launched the European Peace Fund with an initial € 127 million. Be- tween 2016 and Colombia, it has been the subject of many expectations, but also concerns, among them, the slow implementation of the agreement, the incessant political violence (especially against demobilized and alternative leaders), the dispute over territories and routes between criminal gangs and drug traffickers, political polarization and repression in social mobilizations. The post-agreement during the pandemic has been far from the desired peace and in- ternational partners are confronted with the tension derived from their support for agreements implemented by government actors who do not believe in them.
