Abstract
The digital transformation of the Colombian Judicial Branch is one of
the country’s major challenges for the third decade of the 21st century. It
will improve service provision, increase coverage, and facilitate access.
To develop a cross-cutting policy that impacts the national territory, the
Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSJ) has begun addressing some of the
most complex variables of the transformation process. These include the
peculiar features of some regions still affected by the digital divide, as
well as the limited decentralization in the execution of CSJ’s decisions,
which often delays or reduces the expected impacts. However, based on
the legislative progress of previous decades, the change in the collective
culture about the use of technologies after the COVID 19 pandemic, and the
coordination of previously dispersed initiatives in a coherent medium- and
long-term plan that reflects international best practices, it is now possible
to achieve the goal of an expeditious judicial system that incorporates the
latest technological tools.
