Abstract
The use of drones in Latin America is facing two main dilemmas. On one hand, the confusing regulatory framework in many countries, on the other hand, both public and civil policies increase the use of said tool, increas- ing the need to establish both limitations and conditions for the proper use of drones. The successful utilization of drones in both control and infrastructure or territory management puts in discussion the rewards and hazards which arise from uncontrolled use of drones. This article elaborates a contextualiza- tion of regulatory frameworks in Latin America to then, proceed to analyze the limits and discussions linked to the hypothetical usage of drones in Latin American urban security politics, confronting them with surveillance cameras.
