Abstract
This article presents several of the final conclusions reached by a research work on the consolidation and emergence of the theatrical field of Bogotá. It explores the incidence of what has been called The New Theatre Movement (which took place in Latin America since the fifties to the seventies during the last century). Furthermore, this movement will reach a singular importance in Colombia by discussing, even today, strongly about the real role of collective creation and organization in the transformation of drama and theatrical activity in the country. Such debates are taken here just as additional data, together with the speech of other agents belonging to this field found in history books of the Colombian theater and theoretical texts of several of its main characters. The information is completed with specialized magazines and cultural official institutions. At the end, one of the main conclusions is that we can talk about the theater field in Bogota for the sake of the autonomy that was obtained by three issues: the acquisition of an independent theater, the education of an audience and the creation of a national dramatic tradition.
