Abstract
Parents play an important role in the psychosocial formation and education of adolescents. The objective of this study was to identify the knowledge and attitudes toward HIV in a sample of 106 parents from the cities of Cali, Armenia, and Pasto (Colombia), using the HIV/AIDS-65 Scale. In general, the results showed knowledge about HIV, a positive attitude, and good self-efficacy, despite the fact that they still have erroneous ideas regarding transmission and prevention. The paper discusses the need to strengthen educational strategies aimed at educating parents with respect to concepts and skills that foster the management and prevention of HIV.
