Abstract

In recent years, global approaches have emerged as methodological alternatives and constitute important developments in historiography with its intention to overcome the divisions inherent to borders and traditional national histories. Based on the review of some of the most outstanding works, this article proposes a historiographical reflection on such approaches, their purposes and methodological contributions, as well as its recent advancement in Latin America, and suggests the relevance of understanding a substantial part of human history from a broad and diverse perspective, which pretends to overcome the traditional Eurocentric visions, and as the result of contacts
