Abstract
This document consider the effects of life expectancy increase, regarding to demographic environment and forms of domestic organization among generations. The increase in life years is a collective and individual event that, besides decline in fertility, guides the course of population aging. This changing process is reflected in the growth of the elderly population, but especially in their living conditions which are defined in part by relationships with the other age groups that form their homes.
In this context, text describes the main features of household of older people in Colombia, its departments and major cities, according to its share of the total households, their size, structure, head of household, limitations, and economic activity indicators of aging, according to the Census 2005.
