Barreras al interior de los servicios de salud en población afrocolombiana con experiencia de movilidad interna

Introduction: Human mobility implies facing a series of changes related to labor insertion, adaptation to the sociocultural context, lifestyle and access to health and education services, this last aspect also affects the national population and is not exclusive to international migrant populations. Objective: To determine the barriers within the health services of the Afro-Colombian population with experience of internal mobility from the department of Chocó to Medellín and of the Afro-Colombian population born in that city. Methodology: Cross-sectional analytical observational study. A telephone survey was made to 211 Afro-Colombian people in condition of internal mobility from the department of Chocó to Medellín and born in Medellín. From this, a descriptive analysis was carried out to describe the social and demographic characteristics of the population. Prevalence ratios with 95% CI were calculated to investigate the relationship between social and demographic characteristics and internal mobility status with the presence or absence of barriers to access to health services. The multivariate technique was a generalized linear model for categorical dependent variables reporting PR with 95% CI. Results: Sex, age and affiliation regime are characteristics that may be associated with the presence of barriers within the health services. The condition of internal mobility is related to geographical and continuity barriers, but not significantly. Conclusions: The Afro-Colombian population in condition of internal mobility and born in Medellín experiences barriers of a geographic type, of continuity and for the complete delivery of medicines within the health services.
