Abstract
In recent research on civil wars, Statis Kalyvas’s work on the logic of violence has become a permanent reference. However, the explanatory scope of his theory is limited due to his one-sided perspective which privileges violence over other variables. This limitation has theoretical and methodological consequences. In this sense, this article examines these consequences through the local dynamics of Colombian civil war in the Northwest of Cauca.
