Augustine, defender of Ticonius

I The figure of Tyconius has created many perplexities in the context of the biblical hermeneutics and ecclesiology studies. In this context, Augustine's relationship with Tyconius is not
different, since the nature of their relationship is not clear, neither the reasons why Agustin
uses Tyconius' work nor why he carried out his defense against his co-religionists. In this
way, the present article proposes to advance in a hypothesis about the place of the work of
donates thinker in the thought of Augustine, as well as to verify the conciliatory, synthesizing
and critical character of the Bishop of Hippo, especially in the context of the controversy with
the members of Donato's party
