Abstract
Some common approaches to Arturo Escobar work by the specialized literature of recent years are the subject matter of this article. Contributions attributed to him and critiques he has received are gathered here and then analyzed taking into account both his life and our interpretation of his creation processes significance to the contemporary social sciences debate. Then the article analyzes his commitment with the policy of difference, a particular aspect of Escobar's life and work that has got little attention by the academic sphere. Finally, we propose to think of Escobar as a thinker of the difference.
