Abstract
The main techniques used for neuropsychological rehabilitation of attention are restorative and compensatory. This article reviews recent evidence-based intervention studies and focuses primarily on the adult population with attention deficits following brain injury. The first section provides definitions of the different types of attention along with their respective neural substrates. The second section describes traditional and modern attentional models, techniques, and tasks, as well as training programs and key elements for generalizing results. Additionally, guidelines and recommendations for the effective implementation of interventions are presented, emphasizing the importance of understanding the impact of attentional difficulties on patients' activities of daily living and their psychosocial characteristics, among other relevant factors. Finally, future research directions and methodological limitations in the field of attention rehabilitation are discussed.
