Abstract
Static mixing in conventional fuels is an industrial practice to obtain homogeneous liquid mixtures; due to an obstruction in the flow, the liquid-liquid phase mixtures become homogeneous, since a higher intimate contact is allowed between the mixing substances. This work displays a hydrodynamic simulation of a static mixer using FAME biodiesel and JETA-1 blends with a percentage in volume up to 25% of biodiesel. The main effects on the concentration distribution are obtained as a function of the % of substitution of biofuel and the internal mixer geometry, thus exhibiting different hydrodynamic responses and output properties for the blends. These properties serve as a preliminary reference before achieving experimental measurements in the laboratory. Keywords: static mixer; JetA-1; Biodiesel, hydrodynamic distribution.
