Abstract
Introduction The diagnosis of overactive bladder is made from clinical suspicion, the use of a voiding diary (VD) is recommended as part of its initial assessment. The VD is not a standard measure in Colombia, due there being no valid VD. The aim of this study is to adapt the 3-day bladder diary (3dBD) validated in Spain by Jimenez-Cidre et al. in women with overactive bladder seen in the Urological clinic. Material and methods A description is presented on the results of a representative population of 20 women with clinical suspicion of overactive bladder used to culturally adapt the 3dBD. Instructions were given on how to complete the 3dBD and the QQ10 as Likert scale. The transcultural validation of the 3dBD was carried out by assessing the terms used in the original 3dBD and replacing them with words easier to understand by our population. Results In the QQ10 the average score of the questions that assess the positive aspects of the 3dBD was 3.3, with 4.0 being the highest score. All the patients complete the 3dBD, which suggest a good feasibility. Conclusions The 3dBD is a useful tool, validated and reliable in Spain for assessing women with overactive bladder. With the transcultural validation of the 3dBD, this VD can now be use in our population, given its good feasibility, validity and reliability.
