Abstract

This paper presents a UWB tapered Vivaldi Antenna for time domain radar applications. The proposed antenna has a hyperbolic cosine aperture profile which produces a smoother transition between the feeding slotline and the curved profile of the taper. Measurements results show that the impedance bandwidth is 0.8-9.93 GHz for the S11 < 10 dB with an average peak gain in the end-fire direction greater than 3 dBi. These results are in good agreement with those obtained in simulation.
