Abstract
We present a way to integrate board games with augmented reality (AR). After analysing the state of AR, we propose an architecture integrating a user experience layer based on AR to a serious board game experience. We worked collaboratively with Rodacanto, a foundation working for heritage an natural preservation in a rural community nearby. Our testbed for the project was a board game promoting environment preservation, focusing on water issues related to this rural community. We implemented a first prototype using a mobile application. Validation with players shows potential of the proposed approach.
