Abstract
The article briefly reviews, from a biblical perspective, the major impact of the Second Conference of Latin American Bishops of Medellin on the development of churches´ life in Latin America and The Caribbean. The first section develops the biblical contri-bution by which Medellin assumes a new method, to elaborate the fact of the revela-tion according to the Second Vatican Council. This method affects two fundamental understandings that are studied in the article: the biblical comprehension of history and the poor. These two structural aspects of the Second Conference of Medellin had a positive influence on the way of reading and interpreting the Bible. Furthermore, they promoted a Latin American biblical movement, which the article presents in its main lines. At the end some perspectives are offered for a biblical hermeneutics, that aims to recover from the texts, the exercise of listening the cry of those who suffer.
