Abstract
The writing highlights the contribution of the Cappado-cian Fathers to the development of the theology of the Council of Nicaea (325), focusing on their de-fence of the term ὁμοούσιος. The exploration of direct sources allows for the recovery of the vital spirit of the theological exercise, which in dogmatic manuals is reduced to theoretical postulates disconnected from an embodied experience of faith. Basil of Caesarea, Gregory of Nazianzus, and Gregory of Nyssa played crucial roles in the clarification and defence of the Trinitarian doctrine, differentiating between οὐσία and ὑπόστασις to avoid erroneous interpretations. Their work represented a true διακονίαto the intelligence of faith, integrating theology with spiritual life and consolidating the faith proclaimed at Nicaea through an approach that united reason, Scriptures, and Tradition.
