Project Details

Description

We will undertake a pilot of a further randomized controlled trial of peer tutoring in Grade 2/Year 3 students in 4 low-income schools in Bogotá, Colombia. We divide the intervention in 4 phases. First, training teachers in the paired reading method and pretesting students. Second, teachers apply method in class: they train and pair 4th year students with a 2nd grade student for a 20 minutes reading pair strategy, every day during 10 weeks. Third data collection from teachers and tutor experience and pos- test. This pilot will be conducted in partnership with colleagues at Queens¿ University Belfast, UK. The purpose of this pilot is to prepare a larger scale trial study in Colombia, and thus to seek funding from GCRF.
