Description

The project builds strong and more resilient health systems in the Americas through the production of more and better-quality research and a strategy to facilitate its uptake into policy the region as well as inform the work of universities and civil society organizations. The project involves a research component that compliments the learning component in a way that fosters regional and cross-country collaborative research in key systemic challenges for the region, namely health system governance and regulation; health system financing and program evaluation; epidemiological transition and primary health care, and finally, human resources for health and managerial abilities. CEDES and the PUJ in order to create a solid foundation from which to build and sustain the postgraduate program in Health Policy and Systems. We will implement a comprehensive strategy that includes improving access to postgraduate education; promoting professional development; incentivizing embedded research that can help the institutions and organizations where our student body work to learn; and organizing and supporting a network for health policy and systems research in the Americas in order to build the field. We will strengthen capacity at UiB by expanding its teaching and education strategy to a new region of the world so it can be at the forefront of innovation for Latin America and the Caribbean, and increase UiB¿s skills in online and distance learning. CEDES will benefit from the support that UiB can provide in training early career researchers and the additional research funds that will be sought to further strengthen the SALHSA consortium. PUJ benefits from the support from both institutions in the strengthening of its postgraduate program.}
