Project Details
Description
The proposed study aims at describing the dynamics of cultural production around the interpretation of string folk music in the counties of Popayan and Inza, in the southern Colombian province of Cauca, during the 1950s and 1960s. It will focus on the social aspects of the cultural production, explore the relationship between repertoire and newly arrived media such as radio and record players, and explore the multiple types of capital (economic, symbolic and social) that might have been involved in the process.
