Segunda emision privada: en homenaje a cali (billetes caleños ii)

This is a proposal for the second phase of “Billetes Caleños” that involves continuing the design and issue of private banknotes, etched in zinc plates, and printing them using several color palettes on printing paper in the traditional Colombian format for banknotes. The goal is to finish five (5) additional types. This second issue will complete the initial series of 7 designs already designed and printed in 2016, during phase I of the project. The prime subject matter is the city of Cali´s demolished iconic architecture, coupled with defunct local leaders; symbols that intend to put in value the long forgotten history of the city, and refresh the sense of cultural identity; in a population that is highly apathetic and lacking of a sense of belonging. On the long run, this project could be the first step for developing a set of private notes that could be set in circulation during a big city event.
