Revealing the ecology and toxinology of deadly venomous caterpillars from the genus Lonomia in Colombia

The aim of this project is to evaluate the Lonomia species present in Colombia, and their ecological patterns (spatial and temporal distribution) and toxinology, to understand the sudden appearance of this caterpillars and the aggregated spatial distribution ofhuman accidents. In this way, we will provide health authorities with the necessary tools to plan antivenom production in Colombia and prevent similar outbreaks in other regions.
